The role of the Commercial and FP&A Manager is to proactively support the local commercial performance of The Mill in Chicago, with a focus on optimizing business profitability performance. This should be achieved through the implementation and management of commercial best practice, realization of new commercial opportunities and the creation of commercial partnerships with key clients; agencies, production companies, creative peers and brands. In addition, the role assumes responsibility for providing financial planning and analysis support to the management, with respect to the monthly performance process, sales and margin reporting and forecasting, the annual budget and other ad-hoc analysis as required.
Commercial Leadership
Be a true commercial business support to the Chicago Managing Director and be part of the Chicago Leadership team, offering specialist-level commercial guidance and leadership in the Chicago studio.
Understand and manage a working environment that is project-led, fast-paced, and highly changeable.
Be a constant presence in the Production and Operations teams, providing commercial expertise to the day-to-day workings of the business, from bidding projects through to tightly managing resourcing requirements and costs in project delivery.
Provide insight and understanding of the creative and operational aspects of the business to help drive profitability
Identify growth opportunities and drive aspirational and profitable growth plans both in Chicago and across Group strategic initiatives.
Build the business cases for new investments and capex projects.
Commercial Acumen and Performance Analysis
Play a key role in the project selection and risk assessment processes in the Chicago studio, acting as key decision-maker in ensuring a balanced mix of work is undertaken to deliver both creative and commercial aspirations.
Develop and support local strategies to improve value of key clients by identifying trends, seasonality, key account movements and relevant market developments
Interpret and analyze financial / market data and present commercial insight to create tangible objectives for individuals and the wider-business.
Take the lead in managing and responding to local RFI and RFP processes and support group requests as required.
Provide insight into the operations of a business to become more profitable by proactively suggesting areas for further analysis to generate ideas for improvements.
Provide commercial finance support and control to the quoting process, managing risk and protecting commercial terms, where necessary working with the legal team to ensure contract terms are appropriately agreed.
Provide the studio with the insights it needs to understand its customers and determine whether the services provided meet their needs and returns a profit for the studio.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Generate weekly /monthly reports detailing sales and margin performance by customer, project as compared to budget, prior year, and previous forecasts where relevant
Investigate, analyze & interpret project/sales data and present pipeline/revenue forecast to Head of Departments and Management
Analyze & interpret final monthly revenue & expense data to EBITDA level and identify trends & develop analytical reports for head of departments
Conduct ad-hoc analysis, including revenue/cost trending & forecasting, and project profitability and variance analyses
Prepare written reports, charts, graphs and other data for presentation and inclusion in planning and forecasting discussions
Understand the key drivers of business performance and assist in communicating the results to executive team during monthly review meetings
Create, with local management, the forecasts and budgets for the studio.


· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Consulting, Finance or Accounting
· Highly motivated with a record of project or process management
· Expert in Microsoft Excel
· Proactive, professional demeanor with strong communication & client service skills
· Ability to think creatively and work cross functionally with other departments
· Strong independent thinking and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent organization and communication skill
· Adaptable and flexible
· A fun, positive attitude that embodies the Mill’s culture

As a company lawyer based in Hong Kong, I take care of all the legal and corporate matters that arise in connection with the daily operation and business activities of all Technicolor entities in the APAC region. As a result, my work is challenging, exciting and enriching, and I learn new things every day.

It's great to have the opportunity to work closely with committed colleagues from different functions in a challenging but interesting work environment to realize some exciting opportunities. I originally joined Technicolor as a Legal Counsel. I then got promoted to Senior Counsel and finally Lead Counsel. It's been really rewarding to see Technicolor's growth, and I am glad that I am part of the Technicolor family - a place to excel and grow!

My job is to provide accounting, reporting and general financial support to enable our Operations team to grow revenue, profit and cash flow. Not only am I interacting daily with every profit and cost center manager, but I'm working at the heart of the business. Legal, business development, supply chain, real estate - you name it, I'm involved.

It's been an amazing 14 years at Technicolor, having worked in Finance and Operations roles in three different countries. If I were to pick out two standout projects, one would be assisting Home Entertainment Services management in defining the strategy for the North America Manufacturing and Distribution footprint - and then implementing a roadmap covering everything from the relocation of equipment to IT and supply chain. The second would be a project to redefine our DVD case supply chain strategy in Australia to address the challenges posed by a single supply source, pricing, quality issues and foreign exchange exposure. What's really struck me in my time here has been the energy and fighting spirit of different teams to find new ways to be the best at what we do.
