Business Development Manager for Episodic, Mr. X Los Angeles Job Specs

Reports to: Jazz Flood, Executive Producer, VFX Business Development


The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing relationships and finding leads for potential episodic work for Mr. X.

They will work in partnership with the Bidding Producer to deliver bids to clients and manage the schedule for their dedicated bid team.

This includes the delivery of pitch and test materials in support of the bidding process.

Primary Responsibilities

•Develop business relationships with key episodic clients and secure leads with both existing and new contacts within the episodic arena;

•Continue to act as a client liaison for episodic projects in bidding;

•Act as an ambassador for the brand and be knowledgeable of its history, current projects, key executives and creatives, headcount and other specialized services;

•Organize and attend all client meetings relating to upcoming projects;

•Guide the pitch process on all episodic projects through to award;

•Present bids with Bidding Producer to the EPs, Business Development;

•Regularly update client on status and submission date of bid;

•Submit all bid proposals to clients and work with EP’s and Finance to ensure they are accurate;

•Collate competitor analysis to help inform business strategy;

•Interface with clients on project specifics during the negotiation process;

•Responsible for collating final bid documents for creation of contract documents with Technicolor Legal;

•Partner with Business Development and Mr. X Concept Art Department on pitch and preproduction materials;

•Manage handover of awarded shows to Mr. X EP;

•Work with Mr. X EP, Global Resource Manager and Global Managing Director to ensure accuracy of seat forecasts and to agree on facility placement of each project;


  • No degree necessary, however impeccable people skills and professional presentation are crucial;
  • 2+ years of experience in a client-facing post production capacity, preferably television;
  • Project bidding experience strongly preferred;
  • Ability to handle multiple overlapping projects in different phases of the bidding process.
  • Successful track record with clients and strong existing client relationships is essential.
