Position Description: HEAD OF DATA MANAGEMENT

Reports to: Operations Manager - Post Production and Digital Services

Business Unit: Technicolor Post UK

Current Number of Reports: 4

Key RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to Day Line Management of Data IO

  • Hands on management of all day-to-day operations and act as an escalation point for day-to-day issues.
  • Be the interface between operators, other internal departments and external clients and update Sales and Client Services on the capability and capacity.
  • Handle scheduling conflicts, resource shortfalls and client or employee complaints
  • Act to meet agreed deadlines and report issues that may impact on delivery
  • Coordinate operational activities with other Technicolor facilities
  • Responsible for file creation and AQC as per client specifications
  • Assist Engineering team with scripting
  • Adhere to Technicolor's policies and standards
  • Maintain knowledge and provide training of ScheduALL and Iris tools
  • Create and format drives to output material, and ingesting data from physical assets when assigned to IO tasks

This includes the key areas of:

  • Input / Output functions, both Digital and Physical (Hard Drives)
  • Storage Management (Forecast needs and Data Movement)

Manage and Lead the Data Management Team

  • Proactively manage the team, including recruitment, performance management, appraisals, objective setting, leave, overtime and dismissals when appropriate
  • Investigate and resolve any internal or external client, employee or security concerns

Training and Development

  • Coordinate training for team members and contractors on workflows and procedures to ensure methodical and consistent application
  • Develop and grow talent, including maintaining a Skills Matrix and Position Descriptions, and where possible promote cross skill training to increase flexibility

Pipeline and Workflows

  • Create, document, communicate, implement and troubleshoot workflows, technical specifications, processes and procedures and ensure these are followed. Update as required
  • Highlight gaps and enhancements that need additional development to optimize the effectiveness of the pipeline
  • Ensure global alignment for consistency, compatibility and integration purposes

Security

  • Understand and adhere to all security protocols.  Take part in security audits ensuring compliance to all security standards.  Take remedial action of any areas not compliant

Technology Management

  • Understand and train the team on new technology

Communications / Knowledge Sharing

  • Liaise closely with Production, Technology Services (Engineering) and Creative to manage the pipeline 
  • Ensure the Sales team understands department capability and that work quoted can be delivered within the set timeframe and specification
  • Review forthcoming Production schedule; ensuring the correct information is included in the assigned work orders, addressing any queries with the Production Manager or with Client Services.
  • Report faulty equipment to relevant internal and external support staff / contractors.
