The role of an Emerging Tech Producer is to facilitate complex Emerging Tech projects, ranging from AR, VR, Experiential and interactive work through The Mill, starting at the concept stage through to the final delivery on diverse platforms.

In order to deliver the standard of work The Mill has become renowned for, an Emerging Tech Producer must have extensive experience in producing interactive projects, an excellent knowledge of and enthusiasm for current technology and techniques, superb communication and team building work skills. This role reports to the ET EPs and Senior Producer.


  • Attend client meetings at the concept stage to advise on current techniques, procedures, SOW and plan timings
  • Must plan and quote for all elements of the job both internally and with partner vendors and then must ensure the smooth running of the job through the building
  • Production and technical expertise across game engine, interactive, experiential and web projects
  • Must be familiar with tools such as Jira and Gantter
  • Monitor and ensure the most effective use of the company’s technical, creative and personnel resources to deliver a successful and profitable outcome on projects both locally and internationally
  • Monitor and review project demands on creative artists and ensure that they have sufficient support staff and resources for each project
  • Must be able to quickly troubleshoot or adjust to creative or technical changes relative to the project
  • Tracking and managing project development timelines and schedules.
  • On site event activation and operational management including personnel and hardware
  • Must keep abreast of new technology, their application and integration into the working pipeline at The Mill but must also have a good understanding of new trends and developments in the wider field
  • Proven ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • In conjunction with all the artists working on the job, must ensure the standard of creative excellence is maintained whilst keeping the job on budget and within time and resources
  • Requires an acute sense for visual aesthetics, the user experience and ideas and the ability to manage people and resources effectively
  • Must be proficient in and comfortable with client-facing communication be it for agency or direct to brand

Mentoring/other responsibilities 

  • Excellent client and communication skills are essential.  The Emerging Tech Producer is a main point of contact for our clients; it is through them and their good working relationships with our Senior Artists that strong, lasting relationships with clients are made.  It is these relationships that provide our repeat business
  • Good commercial skills and be able to negotiate deals that are financially beneficial to The Mill whilst remaining sympathetic to the client’s requirements. 
  • Must also be able to remain on good terms when time, money and resources are limited
  • Establishing these relationships is essential to maintaining the world-class reputation of The Mill
  • Responsible for mentoring Production Coordinators and Schedulers and pass on their experience in order that the standard of The Mill is carried forward
  • Must be a creative thinker and problem solver with an ability and willingness to contribute to the creative atmosphere that drives both internal and external projects

Required skills, knowledge and experience 

  • Degree or equivalent experience in media or communications
  • At least 2 years experience with proveable shipped products as a producer in a emerging technology, interactive or immersive production environment environment with proven people management, budgeting and negotiating experience
  • Specific knowledge of the processes and technology used within a production environment

On a day-to-day basis, my team oversees sound editors, re-recording mixers, Foley artists, schedulers and project managers for about 30 episodic projects at any one time.
